The
39 Clues
With
each book written by a different author, this series
gives us a unique opportunity to be exposed to a variety
of writers, “select” our favorites and look into their
other books too.
Parents and educators also are afforded a unique
opportunity with this series. The website contest
sponsored by Scholastic.com personalizes the adventure
to the child, enhancing their involvement in the
storyline.
http://www.the39clues.com. As fiction that
looks back through history, each book can be used across
the curriculum to tie social studies, literature and
science together with fun projects and fascinating
reading. Children can be encouraged to select amongst
Franklin’s many inventions to experiment, research the
history of those sites or people of most interest to
them, or study the geography of the world. As a series,
it allows tying these together from one book to the
next. However, even more unique is the opportunity for
English teachers and parents alike to talk with the
child about the differences in the written story from
one book to the next. No better opportunity awaits the
child to develop their critical thinking skills and
learn to make good decisions at choosing literature
which matches their Do-Re-Mi value system.
